Solo ArtistDr. Melissa Sky-Eagle is an accomplished solo performer, with undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral degrees in classical piano performance. In Athens, Georgia, she premiered Dr. Robert Gross' "Concerto for Piano and Wind Instruments," with the University of Georgia Wind Symphony, under the baton of Dr. John Lynch. Dr. Lynch commented, "Her playing was poetic, insightful and lucid; and she had complete command of the instrument, weaving lines that ranged from transparent to spikey."
In a recent recital, she performed Mussorgsky’s Pictures at an Exhibition, Suite No. 4 in E minor by George Frideric Handel, and Sonata No. 8 in B-flat Major by Sergei Prokofiev. She has a special passion for 20th century Russian music, particularly the works of Prokofiev. Melissa's favorite piano sonata is the Prokofiev 7th, Op. 83, because of the deeply emotional impact and compact perfection of the work.
